Abput the Speakers

Judge John Payton, Collin County Justice of the Peace,
Precinct 3-2 Elected Justice of the Peace at the age of 18,
listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the youngest
elected judge in the world. Judge Payton spends much of his
court time presiding over truancy and juvenile offenses.

Dr. Mel Whitehurst, a psychologist located in Plano, Texas
with over thirty-five years experience working with adults and
children. Dr. Whitehurst has worked as a public school counselor,
Director of Counseling and Professor of Human Development
at the college level before entering private practice
for twenty-seven years.

Kerry Davis received her Master's degree in Counseling from
Dallas Baptist University and her undergraduate degree in
marketing from Hampton University in Hampton, Va. Kerry is
a member of the North Texas Board of CHADD (Children and
Adults with Attention Deficit Disorder).

Rachel Samuels, has a deep passion to share food and nutrition
knowledge to all. Food has not only guided her career, but
shaped her life purpose. She functions on the principle, that she is
“gifted to feed” food, passion and knowledge. She has worked
and volunteered in most sectors of the food industry. In her 12
year food experience, she has served as Quality Assurance and
Food Safety manager at Amore Foods, Canada; functioned as
Clinical Nutritionist at Cedars Medical Center in Miami Florida and
worked at Cargill Ltd in their QA and R&D laboratories, where she
developed her knowledge of the meat industry

Jessica Sargent, has her Bachelor’s degree in psychology .
She has worked in the early childhood profession before
DFPS. She has been with DFPS for six years as a Child Protective
Service Investigator. Growing up in a Military family,
she is also fluent in German.

Laura Young, is an early childhood educator and parent
education facilitator with the Relief Nursery of Collin County.
She has twenty years of experience working with children and
families of all ages (through public school music programs,
preschools, RNCC, churches and parenting). She believes
that children benefit greatly when there is open collaboration
and communication between parents and teachers.

3rd Annual RIDE FOR RELIEF on April 30th 2011!!!!!

3rd annual 53 mile escorted ride goes through the Collin County towns of McKinney, Melissa, Blue Ridge and Plano.  The ride starts at the NEW Family PowerSports location at 2110 N Central Expressway McKinney, TX 75070. Check in and line up starts at 0900, ride starts at 1030.  The ride ends at Bullwinkle's - 2001 W Spring Creek Pkwy Plano, TX 75023 where we'll have a bike wash, a seamstress to sew patches on your leather, live auction, food, live music and more.  The ride entry fee is $20 per bike which includes a free ride patch or pin.  Check our website for registration info.  The two beneficiaries this year are Operation Veteran Support (http://www.rotaryvets.com/) and Relief Nursery of Collin County (www.ReliefNurseryCC.org).
